Promoting Age Diversity (PAD), is a Wise Owls campaign funded by Trust for London to raise awareness of the wide scale benefits of age diversity; ensure that older workers (50+)are treated equally and with respect by employers from all sectors as part of a commitment to age diversity in employment, and as an application of the UK and EU age equality legislation.


Promoting Age Diversity consists of :

  • A campaign to persuade the media, public, employers and those affected by ageism of the contribution of older and younger workers. The benefits all can bring to the country, to business and the need to stop the practice of ageism. This includes the signing up to a charter of equal rights for all older workers and those of all ages.
  • Practical phone line and internet support, access to vacancies and job matching plus practical help and guides to interested over 50s clients across London and the UK, wishing to find employment.
  • An educational campaign to persuade employers from all sectors to appreciate the benefits of age diversity including older and younger workers, for their businesses, profitability and to meet the legal requirements, including the dissemination of guides on age equality legislation and how to best apply it in business, plus the Benefits of Older Workers.
  • A cross party campaign to persuade government, local government, public bodies, political representatives, business and trade union representatives to apply age and employment equality in practice including age and employment monitoring and addressing these inequalities by government action.
