The over-50s are suffering a triple whammy in the recession. The data available suggests that older workers are more likely to be made redundant; employers are less likely to put them forward for on-the-job training and older people are less likely to be taken on as new staff.

Following the decision publicised in your paper yesterday, by the European Court that employers can continue to get rid of staff when they reach 65, older workers (50- 65+), who we at Wise Owls help, are now faced with a double whammy.
