Welcome to the Wise Owls campaign page. Here you find the latest on our campaigns in the ongoing battle to end ageism.
Wise Owls have conducted research using Freedom of Information requests in order to find out whether government and public institutions throughout the country have an age diverse workforce.
Background:
Over the last two years, we have attempted to get the government to conduct a national Age audit of our workforce. After all, how do we know if things are improving if there is no figure to begin with? Having been met with silence we decided to take the matter into our own hands and conducted our own audit. Using the Freedom of Information Act, we contacted all London borough council's and English County Councils asking them to provide us with an audit of their organisation.

The next step:
Help us in our quest for a national age audit. Contact your local Member of Parliament and ask them to raise the matter with the government and / or see what they can do to get the information released relating to local public sector ( and quango) employers.
We hope to be organising more campaigns around the issues of ageism, employment, the equalities industry and our lack of representation as a separate demographic ( older 50+ workers / babyboomers – not pensioners) as well as around other issues which matter to us such as babyboomers and / or concerned citizens of the UK and the EU.
If you would like to be kept informed / be involved in our campaigning activities please email us here - webmaster@wiseowls.co.uk. Equally if you would like to propose a campaign for us to lead, join or support please email us with your idea / campaign / petition
